Family Caregiver Support Program

The Older American Act (OAA) Amendments of 2000 authorized the creation of the National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP) to help many thousands of family members with the care of their older loved ones.

Caregivers can be family members or other individuals who provide unpaid care to an older person who needs supportive services.

Under the NFCSP and AAAD provides caregivers with information and assistance, case management, support groups, personal care, in-home respite (short-term sitters), homemaker services and meals.
